| An existing
two story colonials stood at the center
of this rolling site. The original structure
consisted of a tall, narrow center section
with lower wings to either side. The client
recognized the potential views of the
site, but realized the existing structures
proportions were awkward. The challenge
was to adjust the exterior massing to
correct the proportions and give the home
a more exciting presence on the site.
The interior program was to add a new
master bedroom, renovate the kitchen and
family room, and to refinish the remaining
spaces. The solutions were to clear some
of the site to take advantage of the views
and to extend the roof rafters of the
main gable to increase the central mass
and decrease the length of the wings to
either side. |
